The King was going to build a new palace. He invited the nation's leading architects to court, from among whom he was to choose the best architect for his project. The king asked each of the hopeful candidates to make his own case that he was the best architect and therefore should be entrusted with the work. The king also asked of the architects recommend architect who they believed to be the second to the best, as their assistant.
