With 6 wrappers from the 8 candies Charlie can then trade for 2 candies, giving him a total of 34 candies Charlie now has 4 wrappers in his hand, 2 remaining from the previous 8 candies (8-6=2) and 2 from the 2 candies he's just taken in. With 3 of these 4 wrappers he can trade for 1 more candy, giving him a total of 35 candies. But Charlie still has 2 wrappers, one remaining from the previous 4 candies (4-3=1)) and 1 from the 1 candy he's just acquired. If Charlie wants his candy really bad, he can now borrow a wrapper from someone else and with his 3 wrappers trade for 1 candy. He'll keep the content and return the wrapper to its rightful owner. 36 candies! Charlie is so happy. |
